The TNAU campus left an impression on me, particularly the architecture. The first TNAU building we went to was built over 100 years ago and had beautiful red sandstone reminiscent of Mughal Architecture. TNAU students informed me that it was built during the British Raj. The door frame details and windows caught my eye.
After shopping I realized that these details are related to other designs in India like garden design and textile design. They depict features of horticulture such as in the picture of the door frame with Anitha and the window detail.
Perhaps the best feature that struck me the most is the hapticness and textual features of the building where one can feel every brick stone being placed and just by looking at the architecture it makes you want to touch it. In America, many structures are built by machines which make it feel static. I will want to take this idea of texture and apply the sense of touch to my landscape and building designs.
